We were asked to carry out a specialist drilling job at a residential property in Marple, where the customer required a 45-degree core hole to be drilled internally within their living room.
As diamond drilling specialists, we’ve completed work like this plenty of times before. But this particular project presented a unique challenge due to the construction of the client’s home. The wall that needed to be drilled was part of a single-storey, which meant there was no available fixing point above the hole - something we would typically rely on when setting up for angled drilling.
Because the work was inside a finished home, the priority was to deliver a clean, accurate result while adapting our method to suit the site’s unique conditions. As local diamond drilling contractors, this kind of problem-solving is exactly where our decades of experience come into play.
Ordinarily, a 45-degree core hole would be completed by fixing the drilling rig above the desired drilling position and setting the rig to the required angle. In this case, the roofline directly above the wall meant that wasn’t possible.
To overcome this, we used our new Husqvarna drilling rig, which allows the setup angle to be adjusted to 135 degrees. This meant we could securely fix the rig below the drilling position rather than above it, providing a stable and safe setup despite the restricted space.
Using our specialist diamond core drilling equipment, we carefully marked out the drilling point and worked methodically to maintain the correct angle throughout. By letting the diamond bit do the work and applying steady, controlled pressure, we were able to produce a clean, accurate hole without movement or deviation.
