We were recently asked to support JKC Stitch Drilling at Anfield Stadium in Liverpool. The project involved drilling through heavily reinforced concrete to a depth of 1.1 metres, creating openings that would later be removed using Brokk demolition to form the space for new escalator stairs.
This type of work demands accuracy, consistency, and a controlled approach, particularly when deep drilling is required within an existing structure.
Our team attended the site with our specialist diamond drilling rigs, prepared to work through the depth and reinforcement expected in the slab. With heavy steel running throughout the concrete, standard cutting methods weren’t suitable, so deep core drilling was the safest and most effective solution.
Using high-performance diamond core barrels, we drilled down the full 1.1 metres, maintaining steady pressure and close control to ensure each opening remained perfectly aligned. The depth, reinforcement, and limited tolerance for deviation meant that every core had to be completed methodically and without interruption.
Because the drilled openings were being prepared for Brokk demolition, our accuracy directly supported the next phase of work. Clean, consistent cores allowed the demolition team to break out the concrete safely and efficiently.
Throughout the job, we maintained strict control of slurry and debris, keeping the working area tidy and ensuring operations could continue without disruption.
