We were asked to carry out diamond drilling works at St George’s England Football Academy in Burton upon Trent, working on behalf of AMW Landscaping.
The project brief involved core drilling a 200mm diameter hole and 2x 107mm diameter holes through a reinforced concrete wall at a low level within a plant room. These openings were required to allow for the installation of ducting and power cables, supplying a newly constructed block on site.
Accuracy was important to ensure the services could be installed without issue, particularly within the confined space of the plant room, where access and positioning needed careful consideration.
Our team attended the site equipped with diamond core drilling equipment suitable for reinforced concrete applications. Prior to drilling, each hole location was set out carefully to match the service requirements and ensure correct alignment through the wall.
Working at a low level within a plant room required a steady and controlled setup. Using diamond drilling techniques, we progressed through the reinforced concrete in a consistent manner, maintaining control to ensure each opening was formed cleanly and to the specified size.
Attention was given throughout to ensure accuracy and a clean finish, leaving each core ready for the next phase of work.

Diamond drilling provides an effective way to create openings for ducting and cable installations. The process allows each hole to be drilled to an exact diameter, helping ensure services can be fitted correctly without the need for alteration.
The method also avoids unnecessary damage to the surrounding concrete, which is particularly important when working with reinforced structures. Clean, well-positioned openings make it easier for follow-on trades to carry out installations, reducing time spent on unnecessary adjustments on site.
By delivering precise holes, the installation of ducting and cables can be completed more efficiently, helping maintain progress across the project.
All three core holes were completed to the required sizes and positions, providing clean openings through the reinforced concrete wall.
The work was carried out in a controlled manner within the plant room, leaving the area ready for ducting and power cables to be installed to the new block.
AMW Landscaping were able to continue with the next stage of the project without delay, supported by a straightforward and well-managed drilling process.
We work alongside contractors across a range of commercial sites, delivering diamond drilling solutions that are suited to the conditions and requirements of each project.
By focusing on accuracy and a controlled approach, we help ensure follow-on trades can carry out their work efficiently. If your project requires core drilling, our team is always available to provide practical advice and support, so get in touch today.
