We were recently asked to carry out specialist drilling work at Nannerch Hall Farm in Wales. The job involved creating openings for extractor fans at a high level through a 300mm reinforced concrete wall lined with polystyrene insulation.
The client needed a clean and accurate solution that would allow the fans to be fitted without any disruption to the structure. With over 50 years of experience as core drilling specialists, we knew we had the right approach to complete the task efficiently and to the highest standard.
Because of the combination of reinforced concrete and polystyrene insulation, we opted for a dry drilling technique. Dry drilling was the ideal choice for this environment as it eliminated slurry and mess, while still allowing us to cut with the precision required for extractor fan installations.
Our team set up safely at high level, ensuring the correct anchoring and dust control systems were in place. Using our specialist diamond-tipped equipment, we drilled clean, circular holes 300mm deep straight through the reinforced wall. Each opening was carefully aligned to match the client’s design and installation requirements.
By working methodically, we were able to maintain a tidy site throughout, leaving the farm buildings ready for the next stage of work.
The project was completed smoothly, with each hole drilled to the exact size and depth required for the extractor fans. The use of dry drilling meant no slurry or unnecessary disruption, and the reinforced concrete wall was cut cleanly without any compromise to its integrity.
